WHAT makes Piano Plus unique?
QUALITY
There are many wonderful artists who tour Canada, giving excellent performances and winning audiences. Piano Plus artists are the cream of the crop, our very best musicians, who have nothing to prove in this market. They are known, they have solid and busy careers, and they are happy to share their time and talents with new audiences for little financial gain.
AFFORDABILITY
Piano Plus artists join our roster with the understanding that we will not charge more than $2000 per community for a recital and a master class, workshop or school concert. The artist receives only part of that fee, the rest covering travel and per diems. While other artists may charge similar fees, the quality of our artists remains paramount.
ACCESSIBILITY
Our artists are audience-friendly. They want to make the connection from stage to audience with both their music and their own personalities. They talk to their audiences, give them landmarks to listen for, explain what they are playing and why. They make the music understandable, so that everyone feels comfortable, and can listen with open, relaxed ears.
PROGRAM ACTIVITIES
Piano Plus artists rarely go into a community just to do a recital or concert. Depending on the community, they almost always include a school concert, master class or teacher workshop. We provide the artists, the community decides what it needs and what will serve its constituents best.
Piano Plus events have often been used as fundraisers for the community. The organizers in Squamish, BC eventually bought a concert grand piano using the Piano Six artist visits as money-raising initiatives.
"As a small community without a lot of cultural events, we were delighted with the performance of Angela Hewitt last year… She transported us with her brilliance of technique, her incredible dexterity and musicality. She was also delightfully funny and inspiring at the afternoon concert for the children."
