Mission Statement
Piano Plus brings Canada's finest classical musicians to communities throughout the country in which opportunities to experience the magic of live concerts at an affordable cost are limited or simply non-existent.
In doing so, we have two main goals:
Finding New Markets
We research regions across Canada in an effort to bring classical music to new communities, even if only through the schools, where children who have heard little or no classical music are our target. In such places, we also find the general music lovers who listen to CBC, buy CD's, and who are dying to hear our music 'live' and maybe even convince their neighbours, their children, their spouses, to go with them to one of our concerts and give it a whirl. What we do is provide the opportunity for people to hear a certain kind of music so they can have a choice: whether to like it or not, whether to wish for more or not.
We want to hear from small communities who think they can't afford us, schools who have limited resources, and individuals who have ideas to help.
For communities who do not have a piano, we have a partnership with Yamaha Canada, who will help us by providing either a grand piano or a Clavinova, wherever possible.
Nurturing Existing Markets
Secondly, we consider it very important to return to communities who welcomed and nurtured our artists in the past, to nurture them in return. Once is never enough, and if imagination and passion has been sparked by one visit, following it up with another can only be a good thing!
Please note that Piano Plus will limit its return visits to communities to every third or fourth season, in order to concentrate on helping our colleagues expand the market by finding new audiences.
